25057 at Birkenhead MPD, April 1976. New as D5207 in June 1963 and allocated to Toton. Initially used to replace steam on the Midland Main Line it moved in December 1967 to the North West to finally eliminate steam in that area. Renumbered 25057 in early 1974 and later that year at Derby Works had its gangway doors welded up and was fitted with dual brakes. On its travels again when in May 1978 it was transfered to Laira for secondary passenger (still fitted with an operational boiler) and freight duties in the South West. Returned to the North West in November 1980. Continued in traffic until the last year of Class 25 operation being withdrawn in March 1987. Initialy sent to be broken up at Vic Berry, Leicester during 1988 but escaped into preservation. Currently operational (January 2008) on the North Norfork Railway.
