Minus its coupling rods and front buffers 08909 is in the works yard waiting to enter the erecting shop at Derby works for classified repair, 18th November 1976. 08909 was built at Horwich in 1962 as D4139 and initially allocated to Carnforth MPD where it was to stay until the depot closed in 1968. This was followed by spells at Bletchley, Willesden, Allerton and Stratford. In 2004 it was one of the pilots at Dee Marsh and then in 2007/08 was one of the Ketton cement works pilots until stored at Doncaster in April 2008. Following completion of an E exam at Doncaster Carr depot, it was reinstated back to traffic on the 16th July 2008 and can currently (February 2010) be found as the Doncaster Decoy Yard pilot.
